10 tips for great sounding podcasts!

  • Get close to the Mic!  If you're more than about 6 inches from your mic - whether its an expensive condenser mic or an inexpensive usb headset mic combo, you need to be close to get the best sound. The further you are from the mic, the more background noise you introduce into signal. Be sure to address the front of the microphone.  Each microphone has a sweet spot. Spend some time finding your mic's sweet spot.

  3. Enhancer
  4. Noise gate/exapnder

In this episode I am using an MXL 990 microphone, Presonus TubePre Mic Preamp, Behringer Autocom 1400 Voice Processor and the Presonis Inspire I394 audio interface to do voice processing on the fly.

Remember the Fundamentals of Digital Audio is part of the Home Recording Network. Updating my iMac to Leopard has gone smoothly so far. Amadeus Pro, Garage Band and the Presonus Inspire I394 are all working fine.In this podcast we look at the BEHRINGER MIC 200 PREAMP. I really like this little guy especially if you use one of the warm settings for vocals. I has a low cut filter - great for cutting out the low rumbly sounds of speech.
