Well I went ahead and got Pixelmator. You feel right at home if you are used to Photoshop, almost too much.
Many of the features you want and need are there just like old friends: Levels, Layers, Unsharp mask, layer masks, but many aren't: dodge, burn, cropping to exact sizes, curves.
Don't get me wrong, is a great app and I don't regret purchasing it at all. Its so much like Photoshop at times you forget that its not Photoshop for a bit until you want to do something like dodge and burn the eyes on a photo and - dang its not there. I think they'll get there though - they already have a 1.1 release that is solid and adds more features.

I found it slow
I don't use photoshop primarily because I can't afford it. I did purchase pixelmator and for the most part I like it a lot. It's probably one of the better photo editors out there for mac at that price.
I found it very sluggish at times especially if the files are large. Have you experienced the same?
